Memorials & Endowments
Memorial gifts and endowment funds are a means by which you can make a continuing contribution to the ministry of the church:

You can continue the memory and influence of a loved one through a memorial gift.

You can have an important part of the church's future.

You can assist a young person in furthering his/her college education.

You can place New Bethel Baptist Church in your will.

You can make a gift to the church in the form of securities, real estate, life insurance or cash and thereby make a significant difference in the future of the church.
The grantor of a memorial gift to the church may choose to have his/her gift deposited into any one or more of the following funds. Undesignated and unrestricted gifts are deposited into the Family Endowment Fund.

The Memorial Fund
Memorial gifts differ from endowments in that both the principal and interest may be expended. The Memorial fund was established for the purpose of receiving gifts to the church in memory of individuals, families, events or otherwise. Memorial donations may at times be designated for specific use. (top)
The Family Endowment Fund
An endowment is a gift fo capitol in cash or property, which may be converted to cash. The principal of the Family Endowment Fund is held in trust in perpetuity. Only the interest and appreciated income is used. Ten percent of endowment gifts, when converted to cash, is allocated for undesignated used by the church's Board of Missions at the time of receipt. The John Holmes Endowment Fund
The principal of this fund is held in trust in perpetuity and interest and appreciated income is used by the Board of Trustees for improvements and major repairs to church property, particularly when funds are not donated for specific purposes. (top)
The Claude Wallsmith
Scholarship Endowment Fund
The principal of this fund is preserved indefinitely and the interest and appreciated income are used for the granting of scholarships, unless otherwise specified by the donor. Scholarships are awards subject to submission of an application demonstrating compliance with specific qualifications. (top)
John and Violee Means Scholarship
This scholarship fund was initiated to help students finance their post secondary education in a vocational pursuit. It can be awarded to high school graduates who are members of New Bethel Baptist Church or the dependent children or grandchildren or regular attenders. Administered by the Board of Christian Education, awards may be applied at any accredited institution. (top)
The Mission Endowment Fund
The principal of this fund is held in trust in perpetuity and the interest and appreciate income are used at the discretion of the Board of Missions, except in emergencies when funds may be used for its current operating expenses but must be repaid within ninety days. (top)
